We are located in the Newcastle/Hunter Valley region of NSW. Our display model is located in Broke.
The model of Tiny House we sell is often referred to as an “Apple” Pod maybe because it looks like a phone lying on it’s side.
Pod tiny homes come in various sizes however the model we import is an expanding model that slides out to 20m2, nearly double it’s original size.
The advantage of our model of expanding tiny home compared to other models such as the expanding container home is our model can be unfolded very simply, without the need to hire a team of strong people to lift the heavy walls into position. A 36m2 expanding container home for example would take a group of 3-4 men 2-3 days to fully assemble, which can cost up to $5,000 just for the installation.
Our model of tiny home easily slides out and can be done yourself without the need to hire an installer. Additionally, the electricity is very simple to connect to via the 15 amp extension cable socket on the side of the pod.
If you are looking for a tiny house in the Newcastle area, contact us to see how we can help, our display model is located in the Hunter Valley.
All pods feature a kitchen sink, a bathroom vanity sink, a toilet and shower.
Newcastle City Council & Tiny House Regulations
One of the most common questions we get at our Broke headquarters is: “Are tiny houses legal in Newcastle?” Generally, in the Newcastle City Council and Lake Macquarie areas, tiny houses are often classified under “caravans” or “manufactured homes.”
- Pro Tip: If your tiny home is on a chassis or is considered a “portable building” used as an ancillary dwelling, it may fall under specific exempt development tracks. We always recommend checking the State Environmental Planning Policy (Housing) 2021 which governs much of the Newcastle region.
The “Pod” Advantage for Novocastrians
Traditional timber-framed tiny houses can be heavy and difficult to transport through Newcastle’s tighter suburban streets. Our expandable pods offer a distinct advantage:
- Transport Efficiency: They ship in a compact state, making delivery to hilly areas like The Hill or Adamstown much simpler.
- Fast Assembly: Unlike a traditional build that takes months, our pods can be “unfolded” and ready for fit-out in a fraction of the time.
- Durability: Built with galvanized steel frames, they are resistant to the salt air—a must-have for properties near Nobbys Beach or Redhead.
Delivery and Setup in the Hunter Region
Because we are local to the Hunter Valley, we understand the logistics of delivering to Newcastle, Maitland, and Cessnock.
- Site Prep: We can guide you on leveling your site, whether you’re using a concrete slab or stabilized footings.
- Utility Connections: Our pods come pre-wired and plumbed, making it easy for a local Newcastle plumber or electrician to get you “plugged in” quickly.
